About Silverbrook Learning

Silverbrook Learning builds assessment and practice tools for secondary school science and mathematics. Our software is in classrooms across Australia, New Zealand and a growing number of schools in Singapore and Malaysia, which means we are constantly translating between curricula that disagree about what a fifteen-year-old should know. About 60 of us work here, asynchronously, most with some teaching background.

What you'll do

  • Own the curriculum mapping layer, the system that connects our question bank to the syllabus outcomes each jurisdiction requires.
  • Lead our expansion into two new curricula, working with subject matter experts to establish coverage and identify the gaps in our existing content.
  • Define how adaptive practice sequences work, balancing pedagogical evidence against what teachers will actually tolerate in a classroom.
  • Talk to teachers regularly, including classroom observation, because what teachers say in a survey and what they do at 8:50 on a Tuesday are different things.
  • Work with our content team on quality standards for question writing, including the review process that catches ambiguous items before students meet them.
  • Prioritise ruthlessly across a roadmap where every request comes with a genuinely sympathetic case attached.

What we're looking for

  • Four or more years in product management, curriculum development, or educational publishing with product responsibility.
  • Real understanding of how secondary schools work, ideally including time spent teaching or working closely with teachers.
  • Familiarity with assessment design principles: validity, reliability, and why a question can be hard for the wrong reasons.
  • Comfort working with subject matter experts who know more about the content than you do and expect to be treated accordingly.
  • Strong writing, since we make decisions in documents and our team spans six time zones.
  • Based in the Asia-Pacific region with at least three hours of overlap with Australian Eastern Time.

Nice to have

  • Experience with more than one national curriculum framework.
  • A science or mathematics background at tertiary level.
  • Exposure to learning analytics or psychometrics.

Benefits

  • Health insurance, or a cash equivalent in countries where we cannot contract directly.
  • Twenty weeks of paid parental leave, available to all parents.
  • Annual learning budget with paid time to use it, including for teaching qualifications.
  • Async-first working with two overlap hours and no standing daily meetings.
  • Home office allowance and annual equipment refresh.

Salary is benchmarked against the local market for your location and discussed openly in the first interview.
